Interstate 45, between Texas 75 and Texas 21, was blocked by an accident involving three vehicles on Tuesday afternoon, July 2.
A northbound Cardinal Logistics 18-wheeler was changing lanes when it sideswiped a trailer being pulled by a small sport utility vehicle just before 3 in the afternoon, Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Trooper Jimmy Morgan said.
The semi then drove over the median and towards the southbound lane, where it crashed into an oncoming semi-truck for Marroquin Express, a contractor for the Postal Service, Morgan added. Another vehicle then hit the debris on the road left by the incident.
Two yet-to-be-identified male truck drivers suffered minor injuries; one was brought to St. Joseph in Bryan, while the other was taken to St. Joseph in Madisonville.
