Fire truck blocks highway and causes traffic pileup

Traffic came to a complete stop for approximately four hours along the Southwest Freeway at Gessner Road in Houston on Sunday, January 8 starting at 3 a.m. after a fire truck blocked the lanes due to an accident.

More than a dozen motorists were left stranded on the roadway for hours overnight. According to preliminary investigations, a fire truck was blocking the highway when a car in oncoming traffic collided with it. Since the accident consisted of a government vehicle, police officers were required to do a thorough investigation of the matter. They shut down the highway for hours in order to investigate it. “It’s very frustrating, just sitting out here,” said driver Jahlisa Wallace.
