Trucker charged with South Texas vehicular accident that killed four

Trucker and Weslaco, Texas resident Antonio Quintero was charged with four counts of criminally negligent homicide for causing a two-vehicle collision on Christmas Eve along Texas Farm-To-Market Road 186.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety Lieutenant Johnny Hernandez, Quintero was moving his tractor-trailer along the highway when he lost control of the vehicle, causing a collision with a pickup truck that was operated by 34-year-old Lasara resident Luis Cantu. The occupants of the pickup truck – 37-year-old Elizabeth Murad, 14-year-old Delroy Cantu, and eight-year-old Luis Cantu, Jr. – all died in the wreck along with Luis Cantu Sr.

Quintero is currently detained at a jail in Willacy County. Supposedly, Quintero was travelling at an unsafe speed when the accident occurred as he failed to navigate a curve.
