Two dead, three critically injured in San Antonio dump truck-pickup collision

A dump truck and pickup collision that occurred at the intersection of U.S. Route 281 and Farm to Market Road 1937 in San Antonio, Texas resulted in the death of two people. Three others sustained injuries in the accident, which happened on Friday, September 30 around 4:30 p.m.

According to San Antonio Police Department Sergeant Trey Roussel, the two vehicles hit each other head-on, killing the driver of the pickup and his 12-year-old passenger. Meanwhile, three other people who were also passengers in the pickup truck sustained critical injuries. One of them, a two-year-old child, suffered from a compound leg fracture.

Police investigators said the dump truck driver allegedly tried to slow down and swerved as far to the right as possible to avoid traffic, but the driver collided with the pickup with enough force to send the truck into a ditch. The Bexar County driver was carrying a heavy load at the time of the accident. He was taken to the hospital to receive treatment for his minor leg injury.
