The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office reported that 75-year-old Denton resident Beverly Chambers lost her life in a two-vehicle collision. Chambers’ accident occurred at the intersection of U.S. Route 380 (University Drive) and Marshall Road in Denton around 7:50 a.m. on Thursday, September 15.
According to the Denton Police Department spokesman Shane Kizer, Chambers was driving a Ford SUV south on Marshall Road when an 18-wheeler collided with her vehicle’s driver side. Selwyn College Preparatory School secretary Gail Summers said the intersection of Marshall Road and U.S. Route 380 is near her school, and the speed limit in the area is 35 miles per hour from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. during school days and 45 mph for non-school days.
Texas Department of Transportation spokeswoman Michelle Releford said that around the time of the accident, “initial indications are that all necessary measures were in place, including a changeable message sign notifying motorists of the traffic switch, new stop bar pavement markings, and new stop signs with orange flags.”
