A series of vehicular accidents involving between eight and ten passenger vehicles, one semi-truck, and one chartered bus on Interstate 35 near Bruceville-Eddy, Texas on Sunday, January 3 resulted in delays in traffic and several injuries.
Around 71 people were involved in the accidents, with four of them having to be brought to the nearest hospital for treatment of unknown or undisclosed injuries. Assistant Chief Chuck Roper of the Lorena Fire Department told reporters that the Heart of Texas Chapter of the American Red Cross responded to the scene of the accident in order to assist officials with rendering aid to the wounded accident victims as well as those left stranded along the side of the road.
While details of the accident have not been determined at this point, it is believed that the chain-reaction of rear-end collisions was caused after one vehicle was unable to see a stopped car due to an incline in the road.
