Car severed by truck undercarriage

A fatal truck accident happened on Texas State Highway 31 just north of Interstate 20, the Longview News-Journal reported on October 2.

According to police, Department of Public Safety troopers and firefighters responded to the accident around 10 a.m. Reports stated that a car became trapped underneath the bottom of an 18-wheeler truck, and the top of the vehicle was severed. The driver, as of yet unidentified, was killed. The southbound driver of the commercial truck had been attempting to cross lanes on the highway when the accident happened.

Kilgore Assistant Fire Chief Mike Simmons said the driver of the tractor-trailer, who was also not identified publicly, was not hurt in the incident, although he was brought to a local hospital as a precaution. Police remain unsure how exactly the accident occurred.

The attorneys at Williams Hart are deeply sorry this incident occurred, and we extend our sincere condolences to the friends and family suffering during this difficult time.
